Dustin Smith was born and raised in Lynville, MS, a small community in rural Kemper County where logging, forestry and agriculture were the backbone of the local economies. The log trucks and farm tractors that passed his house daily drove his earliest interests in the farming and logging lifestyle, which he soon learned was tied to the lands around him. Fishing and hunting were his primary hobbies and these only furthered his love for the pine forests and hardwood bottoms around his parents and grandparents acreage and that’s where his path to becoming a realtor began.
While earning his Master of Science in Forest Operations, Dustin worked with a building contractor in Starkville constructing homes and learning what quality craftsmanship in construction meant. Upon graduation, he began working as a procurement forester for Cooper Marine & Timberlands in Aliceville, AL. Over the next decade, he worked as a contracted land manager for the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and as an environmental technician at Liberty Mine in Bailey, MS. Each career gave him hands on experience in not only forest markets and products, but how those products contributed to the overall health of ecosystems. Water quality, wildlife habitat and the proper placement of man-made structures are just a portion of complete land and forest management.
That experience, coupled with Dustin’s attention to detail, a blunt and simplistic explanation of the purchase process and a genuine desire to help people reach their ownership goals is what drives him to work as hard as possible for you . As a landowner, Dustin understands the personal connection and satisfaction that comes with home and land ownership. Taking a property that perhaps only you can see the true potential in and turning it into a personal masterpiece is what we’re here to help you do.
On a personal note, Dustin and his wife Mollie live in Louisville, MS and have been married for 11 years. Their kids attend Winston Academy where they all love watching Friday night football games with their neighbors and friends. They are an active part of Murphy Creek Baptist Church, faithful Bulldog fans and still take the opportunity to hunt and be outdoors whenever possible.
